About Scott

After studying photography at Utah State University, I moved to New York City and began my career as a photography assistant for major fashion photographers Claude Mougin and Chris Callas. When I returned to Salt Lake City I became the principal free-lance photographer for the ZCMI department store chain, winning awards for advertisements in magazines such as Vogue, Seventeen, Glamour and Modern Bride. For over 35 years I have maintained a working commercial photography studio shooting a variety of products for many national companies. During that time I have worked continually on my photographic art, showing in many exhibits from Salt Lake City to New York. My photos are in private and group collections throughout the country. When I’m not shooting, you can find me wading through a stream fly-fishing or creating good eats in the kitchen.

About the image

I’ve always loved the photographers of Paris: Kertesz, Brassai and Cartier-Bresson. My first trip to Paris was a first a photographic challenge and second one of inspiration. I’ve lived in Manhattan and Milan, but to me Paris was a time capsule that took me back to the golden age of those photos. Despite it’s contemporary content, this photo seems to echo those photos taken century earlier.
